YZA Opening Day
May 20th, 2022 was a memorable day for the renowned institute, Your Zone Academy, abbreviated YZA. After months of hard work, this respectful dedication has finally paid off, as the members of YZA welcomed us to the mellow evening for the opening ceremony and the graduation of our IGCSE students.
Located in the luxurious area of Lac 1, this villa is surrounded by cleanliness, blooming nature and omnipresent sunshine at this time of the year. On Friday evening, a heart-touching sunset could be seen from the many windows of this academy, and the breeze was ruffling everyone’s hair in a playful manner. Cheerful decorations surround the colourful walls as the staff and students welcomed the parents and photographers; gasps of awe and surprise were heard as the audience roamed the attractive area.
After a quick welcoming word from our psychology teacher, ms Chems, our fellow A-level student, Farah Essid commenced her speech as a way of gratitude and appreciation to the YZA staff. May I just say, she aced that speech effortlessly! Further orations were conducted by various teachers and co-workers and rounds of applause were distributed equally. Moreover, a diverse assortment of pastries, starters and juices were placed as a respectable buffet, and we all helped ourselves as we waited for the pleasant ‘surprise’.
Suddenly, flashes of cameras were clicked and excited chatter was sounded as we all craned our necks to locate the mellow commotion. Gowns. Caps. Tassels. The graduates were descending the stairs! Phones were hastily extracted from pockets for photos and smiles broke out on the parents’ faces as they proudly watched their children grow up. Loud applauds and whistles were sounded frequently as each graduate’s name was called out and they shook hands with ms Isra, and were handed an award, and a gift bag.
Following that, we wandered around the vast area; some proceeded to talk with the teachers and the other guests, some initiated a game of table tennis, and some helped their smiling graduates take more photos. Students were asked to show the guests around the magnificent location- the plethora of rooms, the artspace in the basement, the comfortable nook for reading, and the blossoming garden filled with flowers. Pleasntaire were exchanged and thank you’s were granted as the opening evening came to a near end.
Overall, I think the opening evening was a major breakthrough and success in the this academy’s future, past and present- as we all left with smiles on our faces and our hearts happy and light. After all, who could deny a charming space and contagious, positive energy? Not me, for sure!
